Phylogeny, biogeography and ecology of flower chafers (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae) and other members of Scarabaeoidea as well (in co-operation with Petr Šípek).
Main ongoing projects:
Phylogeography of the flower chafer Oxythyrea funesta (Poda, 1761) and phylogeny of the genus Oxythyrea Mulsant, 1842 using molecular and morphological data from larval and adult stages.
Similar project focused on species complex Potosia cuprea (Fabricius, 1795).
Adjacent to my emphasis on the Palearctic (mainly European) Cetoniinae I am also interested in immature stages of other flower chafer groups from all around the world as well as higher phylogeny of the subfamily Cetoniinae using molecular and morphological data from larval and adult stages.
Collaborations
Taxonomy, phylogeny and biogeography of hydrophiloid beetles (with Martin Fikáček and his team).
Accelerating taxonomic research using image recognition systems and citizen science contribution (with Miroslav Valan and his team).
